Magento 2 SEO Agency & Ecommerce Consultancy

Speak to anyone who's used it's predecessor, despite the name Magento 2 is almost nothing like the original Magento first releasedway back in 2008.

The same can be said about optimisating a Magento 2 platform for the search engines. Magento 2 has dozens of 'SEO quirks' which if not fixed can significantly harm your websites SEO performance.

Speak to a Magento 2 Expert today!

Magento 2 is one of the leading ecommerce frameworks in the world and is used by the likes of Coca-Cola, Burger King, and Oliver Sweeney.

The platform is scalable, robust, and incredibly powerful out of the box and comes with an active community that offers a great wealth of extensions for greater functionality and improvement.

Magento 2 advantages

As you can imagine, there are many wonderful advantages for implementing the Magento 2 platform.

If you’re currently on Magento, you might like to know that Magento 2 runs 20% faster than its predecessor, which is great for both search engines and sales.

A faster checkout also means that the process of purchasing goods is also simpler in Magento 2, with far fewer steps and less information being required from the user, both of which reduce the number of abandoned carts.

As expected, the new Magento has fully adopted HTML5, which is a great upgrade from Magento, and requires JavaScript. This means that site owners have the capability to offer something new with a great amount of flexibility.

Magento 2 weaknesses

Although there are many great advantages for Magento 2 (far more than listed in the above), there are like any platform, a few disadvantages in its armoury.

The first being that themes can’t be ported, which means that you’ll need to start from the beginning, so a ground-up redesign is something to consider if you’re switching to Magento 2.

While we’re here, it’s also worth noting that not all extensions that work on Magento 1.X will function on Magento 2.

The above reasons mean that, alongside the complexity of Magento 2, great amounts of development time and costs need to be considered.

Since partnering with SALT during the launch of our e-commerce platform, they’ve been a valuable partner to Jewson and STARK UK, helping us lay a strong technical SEO foundation that continues to support the business today.

They have consistently brought a high level of strategic SEO expertise to the table, helping us adapt to changing market conditions while staying focused on the areas that matter commercially.

Their understanding of the realities of our business has meant recommendations have remained practical, while the work delivered has helped us maintain visibility, strengthen key categories, and drive measurable improvements in organic performance.

  • Anastasia Pavlova

Working with SALT helped us approach SEO in a much more strategic and data-driven way. From identifying high-impact keyword opportunities to shaping content that performs well in traditional and AI search, their team consistently brought both strong SEO expertise and a deep understanding of developer audiences.

  • Kerry Beetge

At JetBrains Qodana, we have a highly technical team that values flexibility as much as it does technical acumen. It was easy to see that SALT would provide both within the first six months of working with their team. Our Static Code Analysis Guide was just one of the many ambitious projects we took on, and it’s been incredible having SALT support us so consistently along the way.
